I created this picture with 3ds max (mental ray, hair and fur), and used photoshop to paint the textures and compositing. I rendered the background on a different layer, and added details and colors on it in photoshop.

My first idea for this picture was to create a fantasy piece inspired by the work of Boris Vallejo...
